Control system: • The control system of an organization is designed and implemented in the organization in order to avoid unpredictable disturbances and deviations in the planned output of the system. • For the proper implementation of control system there must be some guidelines to be followed according the system performance can be measured and controlled. • Plan • Standard • Budget • Rule book
The implementation of controls depends on the receipt of information and processing of information. Within the organization the information can received from following resources • Formal sources within the organization (designed by managers) • Informal sources within the organization • Formal sources outside the organization ( from the environment) • Informal sources from the environment.
Open Loop & Closed Loop System: • The system is said to be open loop system if control is being implemented regardless of output(Feedback) produced by system. The information from within the system is not used for control purposes and control must be implemented by the external intervention. Examples of open loop systems are • Automatic light switches • Traffic light

Closed Loop System • The system is said to be closed loop system if control is being implemented from the output(Feedback) produced by system so that control can be initiated to the change the activities of system or inputs of the system. • All business systems are examples of closed loop systems

Feedback • Single loop feedback: • The feedback which is based on past performance of a process and is gathered to govern future performance is known as single loop feedback, it is concerned with the task control information. • Double loop feedback (higher level feedback): • It is control information which is transmitted to higher level in the system. It is concerned with multiple tasks (overall) control.
Negative Feedback: • Negative feedback is the information which indicates the system is deviating from its planned or prescribed course and some readjustment is required to bring it back to its course. • Positive Feedback: The information about the performance of the system which tells the system is performing according to plans and maintaining the performance. • Feed forward: • Information used for controls based on comparing target or original results with the current forecast of future results is known feed forward.
