Status of the Bologna Process in Russia • Bologna Declaration signed in 2003 • Legal Framework developed for the introduction of BSc/MSc-programmes and calculating workload in credits • Working group for the implementation of the BP in Russia • Reform of the State Educational Standards still in process • Introduction planned for 2009/2010 • PhD-level not included • Current System: 5year Specialist Degree

Project Activities promoting the Bologna Process • Academic Staff Mobility Involvement of reform oriented decision makers in mobility Development of two-tier curricula • Procedure for recognition of studies and degrees • Use of ECTS for translating national marks • Conclusion and acceptance of Learning Agreements • EU MSc-Degrees and Diploma Supplements awarded to Russian students • Integration of Russian Researchers into EU PhD- and Research Programmes

Recognition of Studies and Degrees • BSc/MSc 6-months • EU -> RU: Learning Agreement Translation of national marks into ECTS-credits • RU -> EU: Learning Agreement Courses similar to those at the home institution are fully recognised ECTS-credits are translated into national marks Courses different from those at the home institution are recognised as additional performances • Individual study plans Missed courses and exams can be passed before or after the mobility flow

Recognition of Studies and Degrees • MSc 22-months • RU -> EU: MSc-Degree fully recognized in Russia Recognition through the Ministry of Education • PhD 34-months • RU -> EU: Russian system of PhD-level education (Aspirantura) unchanged Foreign PhD-Degrees are not recognized PhDs have to pass the national defense procedure Approval by VAK required

Conclusions • Bologna process not yet implemented in Russia • EM-ECW-project contributes to the process • EM-ECW-project implementation depends on the process • Accompanying Measures required • Tempus, Erasmus Mundus etc. • Russian National Priority Programme for Education • Bilateral Activities
