Timing and Music • Generally 10-15 minutes is good target • Timing can be anywhere from 3 – 7 seconds per slide/picture • Fast show: 2-3 seconds • Moderate slow show 5-7 seconds • Music should generally be calm and soothing, more of background music than something with lots of lyrics that makes you want to sing along

Ken Burns Effect in Software • Apple: Final Cut Pro, iMovie • Windows: Windows Movie Maker, Adobe Premiere • Steve Jobs met with Burns and got his permission to name effect after him and donated money to charity for rights

Ken Burns in PowerPoint • Ken Burns Effect in PowerPoint • Select Slide Show > Custom Animation • Then on the right hand Custom Animation bar Add Effect > Emphasis > Grow/ Shrink • Set the timing to Slow or Very Slow • Select Slide Show > Custom Animation > Add Effect > Motion Paths >Draw Custom Path > Line • Move the green and red arrows and keep testing until happy • In custom animation add in the Grow/ Shrink as before • Click on the second animation and change Start > With Previous
