  1. Shipped Carbon Neutral™ represents an advocacy as well as a trademark?~~` SCM Services are underpinned by its values as an advocate for environmental management systems (EMS) policy development upstream and downstream. Upstream initiatives include: Shipped Carbon Neutral applying to the principals on the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) First-ever greenhouse gas regulations for ships adopted by IMO 20th July 2011 11:02 GMT • On Friday, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) adopted the first-ever greenhouse gas regulations for new ships. This is the first industry-wide, global agreement on GHGs ever. • The agreement covers new ocean-going ships that weigh more than 400 tons. Ships built in or after 2013 will have to improve their efficiency by 10 percent; starting in 2020, new ships will have to be at least 20 percent more efficient than today’s new ships; and after 2024, new ships will have to be at least 30 percent more efficient. The IMO will use a metric called the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) to measure compliance.
