  4. NATIONAL BUREAU OF BULGARIAN MOTOR INSURERSestablished on the 1st of April 2002 independent non-profit legal entity full member of the Council of Bureaux17 insurance companies, Members of the Bureau

Activities of the National Bureau of Bulgarian Motor InsurersOrganizes, administers and supervises the issuance of the international Green Card certificate as well as frontier insurance; Act as a Handling Bureau on the territory of Bulgaria;Acts in compliance with the provisions of the Internal Regulations of the Council of Bureaux and the agreements with the National Bureaux, Compensation bodies and Guarantee funds of the Member states.

  6. FINANCIAL CAPACITY OF THE NBBMIThe financial stability of the Bureau is based on three important components, as follows:

  8. Role, functions and responsibilities of the NBBMI after 01.01.2007(The date of the accession of Republic Bulgaria to the EU) Signing the Multilateral Agreement on the 1st of August 2007 NBBMI – Guarantor of vehicles, normally based in Bulgaria, whether insured or not

  9. Uninsured driving

NBBMI as a Compensation body in case the insurer of the responsible driver or its claims representative in the Republic of Bulgaria has not fulfilled his obligations within a 3 months period or; in case the insurer of the responsible driver has not appointed a claims representative in the Republic of Bulgaria.

Bulgarian Guarantee Fund • The Guarantee Fund pays indemnities under MTPL Insurance: • for non-material damages caused by an unidentified motor vehicle on the territory of Bulgaria; • for material and non-material damages occurred on the territory of Bulgaria or of some other Member State and has been caused by an uninsured motor vehicle, which is normally based on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria; • for material and non-material damages in case where the accident has occurred on the territory of Bulgaria or other Member State and has been caused by a motor vehicle, which is normally based on the territory of Bulgaria and the possession over it has been taken away by theft, robbery or crime. • acting as Insurance Security Fund in case of insolvency of insurance undertaking established in Bulgaria. • Financial capacity • excess of loss reinsurance program; • reserve, amounting to 30 millions Euro.

  13. Bulgarian Information Center Established, according to the IV Directive. Collects data regarding all registered MTPL policies, Green cards and Frontier insurance. Issuing of electronic MTPL policies

  14. The problem with second hand vehicles sold in Bulgaria to Romanian citizen …continues and escalates… No solution?!
