Recent Accomplishments • Balanced budget for 1st time in 9 years • World language 5 days a week in LS • Horace G. Fralin Program for Global Studies • iPad program for US • Raised $400,000 in “Connection Project” for technology upgrades • Restructured Early Childhood Program • Achieved full accredidation from Virginia Association of Independent Schools
Refurbished interiors of MS and CAC • Established ERB Testing Program for grades 1-8 • Hired 11 new teachers • Moved housekeeping and maintenance in house with positive results • Created a girls lacrosse program • Won two state championships • Sent AP teachers to AP seminars as part of professional development • One-fourth of 2012 and 2013 senior class were AP Scholars • 22 percent of seniors scored 1400 or higher on SAT
Largest one-day fundraiser in school history • Increased admission inquiries by 50 percent year-to-year • Created and launched new website • Provided first two Annual Reports in school history • Established Crosswalks Program and in-house tutoring • LS Word Study Program • Dad’s Club • Three new offerings in Social Science (two are AP) • Security upgrades/Risk Management • Holiday Bonfire • Outdoor Graduation
Overview of ICAT In modern society, knowledge is at our fingertips where information is a commodity that we must empower students to find, evaluate, and utilize rather than memorize. Design-based learning leads students to: • Connect objectives across STEM disciplines, • Redifine their role in the classroom, • Amplify the value of technology for research, collaboration, critical thinking and design, • Value robust feedback as a crucial component to success.
