PLC Operation and Value Modification • Standard Machines Inc. SM-250 • PLC Operation and Value Modification • Data Memory Number • Move Cursor Left/Right • Increase Value • Decrease Value • Enter • Data Value • The SM-250 programmable logic controller (PLC) is a very powerful device and has been programmed using many features, which have been imbedded in the logic and are operator accessible. The following will describe these features and how to modify them. • The face of the PLC has a data window containing 2 lines of text and four buttons to the right arranged from top to bottom. The first line in the data window displays the current data memory location and the second line displays the current value for that data memory location. To change the current data memory location being viewed, simply use the increase or decrease buttons until the location desired is displayed. To change the current value of the data memory location being viewed, depress and hold the enter button until the left hand digit in the data value window starts flashing. Using the cursor left/right button, move the cursor (flashing) to the digit you wish to change. Use the increase or decrease button until the desired value is displayed. When the desired value is displayed, depress and hold the enter button until the new value is accepted.
PLC Operation and Value Modification • Data memory values are used to change timers, counters and a unique option code feature used to unlock features imbedded within the program. These devices and features are described in detail on the next page. • Data Memory 0000 • This location contains the value for the image pick-up delay timer. This timer is used to insert a delay prior to the pad descending onto the plate in the rear position. This feature is valuable to prevent distortion induced by pad wiggle often found when using large or soft print pads. The value is displayed in 1/10’s of a second. Therefore a value of 00015 represents 1 ½ seconds. • Data Memory 0001 • This location contains the value for the image print delay timer. This timer is used to insert a delay prior to the pad descending onto the part in the front position. This feature is valuable to prevent distortion induced by pad wiggle often found when using large or soft print pads. It may also be helpful when using certain inks as a means for tacking the ink prior to transfer. The value is displayed in 1/10’s of a second. Therefore a value of 00015 represents 1 ½ seconds. • Data Memory 0002 • This location contains the value for the product load delay timer. This may be used to allow time between cycles when operating in the Auto Cycle mode. This value is also displayed in 1/10’s of a second. • Data Memory 0003 • This location contains the value for the number of indexes per cycle counter. This feature may be used in conjunction with a product-handling device, i.e. Rotary index table. As an example, it may be desirable to manufacture less than an entire set of fixtures if a job is prototype or smaller than a normal run. In this case you could put 2 or 4 fixtures on an 8-station indexer and set the value to either 4 or 2 respectfully. • Data Memory 0004 • This location contains the value for the number of prints per cycle counter. This may be used in either semi-automatic or automatic modes. This feature is valuable where more than 1 print is required for ink opacity i.e. a light colored ink on a dark substrate. • Data Memory 0005 • This location contains the value for the number of slave printers. • Data Memory 0006 –0009 • Reserved (Not used at this time) • Data Memory 0010
