What do I do? 1. Select a category: fiction or nonfiction 2. Select and read a book. Choose a favorite! 3. Turn in the blue sheet of paper. 4. Read and enjoy your book. 5. Buy a trifold board: 36 x 48 inches (must be that size, or you are disqualified!)
What do I put on the board? Nonfiction: • Title, Author, Publisher/Publication date • Student Prediction, Structure • Graphic Organizers • Summary • Student Connections • Author’s Purpose • Follow-up Questions
Can parents help? • Parents can read to and with students • Parents can help students set up the board, (but be sure the project is made by YOU!) • Parents may NOT be with students during judging.
What do I put on the board? Fiction: • Title, Author, Publisher, Publication date • Main Characters, Setting, Plot Summary • Conflict, Resolution/Solution • Author’s Purpose • Tone/mood
Why should we participate? Let’s celebrate reading! Let’s show everyone how much we know about a favorite book! Let’s have fun with reading!
Where can I get ideas? Google “Reading Fair Projects”
How will my project be judged? • Did you include all of the required information? • Is your work neat and inviting? • Is your project original? Did you use your imagination? • Is your work thorough? Did you follow all directions? • Is the project durable? Will it hold together? • Does your work capture the most important information about the book? • Did your work encourage others to read your book? • Did you use interesting materials to express ideas?
