My Computer Science Experience By Jennifer Krauss Excel Excel is a windows program used to manage data. You can use the program to create: Charts, Graphs, And much more. This makes the data easier to analyze. One also must understand the data in order to manage it in Excel, so we learned how to understand data in the process of learning how to use this program. HTML and Web Pages HTML is a code used to create web pages, and requires the creator to be neat and precise. One small mistake can disrupt the entire page! We created a few web pages in class, including: Personal homepage Page for homework and Labs A Calendar And more! Check it out at my homepage!: http://acsweb.ucsd.edu/~jkrauss/ Overview This Quarter in CSE 3, we learned various computational techniques such as HTML, simple programming (scratch), Excel, and Photoshop. In using these we now understand how to apply various computational thinking skills to our lives outside of the Lab. Photoshop Photoshop is an Adobe program used to edit images, but we used it to create some more interesting things… We created an animation of a Glacier melting. This would be very useful in a presentation. We also created a hidden message in an image, as shown on the left. This would be helpful if we get swine flu and are locked in our dorm, and need to let our friends know we are starving and need food because we are quarantined, but don’t want others to know we are ill. Scratch Scratch is a simple programming program. It can be used to create anything interactive. We created a few games: “Baby Catch” Ping Pong Tic Tac Toe As simple as these games seem to be, the creator has to use trial and error many-a-time in order to create the games. And like HTML, one mistake can ruin the whole game!
