Introduction: ¿Estan listos para la buena noticia? Si clase, es verdad vamos ha viejar ala hermosa tierra de España! ¿Quien esta listo para montarse en el avion? Whose ready for the good news? Yes class, it’s true we will be traveling to the beautiful Spain. So, whose ready to get on the airplane?
Task: • Determine 1-3 cities you would like to visit in Spain. • Name 5 dishes/restaurants that are authentic to Spain culture. • Name some art that one would see in different areas/ cities of Spain. • Name any “must see, hot spots” locations. • List Spanish words you would consider “must know” for your Spain trip. • Create a PowerPoint to share and inform others of your perfect trip to Spain.
Process: • Students should separate 2-3 people in a group. • Students should start off by determining 1-3 cities they would like to see in Spain by going to the following link: www.citymayors.com/gratis/spanish_cities.html • Students will go on the hunt for authentic Spanish cuisine. Students can have the actual Spanish food item or mention restaurants that serve authentic Spanish cuisine. Remember to include some of the history of the Spanish art you find and choose to share in your PowerPoint. [can include history of the location, artists, even any historical facts that Spain occurred during the period the art was created.]
Process con. • Create a list of Spanish words your group considers should be “must know” for your Spanish trip. Process con. Create a PowerPoint Presentation. The presentation should include the following: -An introduction slide including all the names the people in your group with the date. There should be one slide for the following: • The 1-3 cities your group has selected • The authentic cuisine you have chosen (5 slides, one cuisine on each slide, for a total of five) • Name of the art/architecture including the history • The “must see, hot spot” locations • List of Spanish “must know” words. *a minimum total of 10 slides including introduction slide, can have more if need.
Conclusion: With the completion of your group WebQuest you should have learned some authentic Spanish cuisine, some beautiful Spanish art with some history behind them, and located some “must see, hot spots.” Your Spanish vocabulary should have widen with the list provided. One step further should have been achieved with the internet and browsing skills that were used through out the project.
Adaption: • If a student is uncomfortable with computers they will be put in a group with a student that is computer savvy. • Spanish to English & English to Spanish dictionaries will be available to students in the classroom library. For those who need that hands on book feeling since they might not want to be going back from tab to tab on the computer while their reading. • I have also provided a number of dictionary websites to help with the translation.
