  1. Outdoor Pursuits& Leisure Archery Providers & Educators 2009

  2. Aim • The aim of this study was to investigate the leisure industry in Ireland and the providers of training for instructors. • Provision of Archery through OEC, Leisure centres and evening courses was also looked at.

  3. OEC - Outdoor education centres • There are 11 OECs around Ireland • They are partly funded by the Dept. of Education and supported by local VECs • 6 of these provide archery to schools and youth groups

  4. Adventure Centres • There are 38 Adventure centres and activity providers around Ireland • They are commercial ventures, self funded and have no central governing body • 32 of these provide archery in one way or another, some quote GNAS qualified instructors

  5. Instructor Training • 22 courses providing training for the outdoor and leisure industries • These range from VEC courses to Honours Degrees

  6. FETAC Modules • Information on creation of FETAC module can be found here FETAC Guidelines • An example where archery could possibly be provided is in the Exercise and Recreation, Archery could be included as a module or part of a module
