8. 8 ASEAN Telecommunications and IT On 24 November 2000, ASEAN Heads of Government signed the e-ASEAN Framework Agreement.
9. 9 Six Areas of commitments – e-ASEAN Framework Agreement Establish the ASEAN Information Infrastructure through inter-connection of the national information infrastructures
Facilitate growth of electronic commerce
Liberalize trade and investment in ICT
Facilitate trade in ICT products and services
Build capacity and an e-Society
Promote the use of ICT applications in the delivery of government services (e-Gov)
10. 10 ASEAN Telecommunications and IT Last year, 2003 was an important year for e-ASEAN ICT. It marked the finalization of the transfer of a major portion of the stewardship to implement the e-ASEAN Framework Agreement from the ASEAN Economic Ministers (AEM) to the Telecommunications and Information Technology Ministers (TELMIN).

WG on e-Commerce & ICT Trade Facilitation
WG on e-Society & ICT Capacity Building

12. 12 ASEAN Telecommunications Regulatory Council (ATRC) Regulatory Body that reports to TELMIN
ATRC has a Joint Sectoral Committee overseeing the implementation of the Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) on Telecommunications standards and equipment.
13. 13 e-ASEAN Working Group (EAWG) The e-ASEAN Working Group (EAWG) was tasked by the AEM to implement the e-ASEAN Framework Agreement.
With the transfer of the stewardship to TELMIN, the EAWG now refocus on AEM’s work such as fast-track integration of the e-ASEAN sector, promotion and liberalization of ICT trade and services.
