Sensor Sensor Sensor Sensor Sensor Sensor Consumer Consumer Consumer Consumer 2 3 Fabric Monitoring architecture Measurement Repository (MR) Monitored nodes Database Monitoring Sensor Agent (MSA) Sensor Cache Consumer Consumer 1
Monitoring Sensor Agent (fmon-agent) • Controls the sensors • Schedules samples • fixed frequency • absolute time synchronization • Collects measurements from sensors • Handles a cache for local consumers (query/subscribe) • Sends data to measurement repository (push) • Two means of transport • Several destinations possible, metric filtering
Measurement Repository (fmon-server) • Receives samples from all the nodes • Stores data • Follows data up to subscribers • Answers queries
Consumers • CGI scripts • Reporting scripts • TK applications • Anamon java applet • Excel data import • Alarm display
Future features • MSA • Sample on demand • Data smoothing • Repository • SQL databases • Scripting interfaces • Fault tolerance system • Correlation engines
