Illiteracy • Illiteracy is defined as the inability to read and write. • The quality or condition of being unable to read and write • CAUSES OF ILLITERACY: • the traditions and values of the individuals • Lack of access to educational materials • Poor and inadequate facilities • Poverty and hardship • Lack of adequate and qualified teachers

  3. CONSEQUENCES OF ILLITERACY • Ignorance and inadequate knowledge about the current happenings in the society • Underdevelopment • Citizens right can easily be abused • Low technological development • Ethnic manipulation

  4. SOLUTION TO ILLITERACY • Provision of educational facilities • Introduction of enabling policies • Mobilization and sensitizing of citizens • Free educaction • Constant training of teachers
