Epic • A long narrative poem telling of a hero’s deeds • The main character is larger than life and possess super human strength.
Free Verse • Poetry that doesn’t follow any set pattern. • The poet choses how many lines per stanza and how many stanzas. • The poet also chooses the beat and what forms of figurative language to use.
Narrative • Tells a story • Ballads and Epics are narratives!!! • Robin Hood, King Arthur, Harry Potter, etc..
Ode • Lyric poem of moderate length • Often praises people, music, natural scenes, and abstract concepts • Can explore problems
Sonnet • 14 linesONLY! • can have a stanza of eight lines and six lines • four lines per stanza and ending in 2 lines in the last stanza (couplet)
