Organizations active in Ethiopia • International Association of Christian Organizations - 1400 member organization 7 • 197 foreign organizations • 997 local organizations -Focus are, Social area, education, health. Most are engaged in missionary activities -1996-200, expenditure over 1 billion!

Organization active in Ethioppia • Ethiopian Orthodox Church – Operates with Sunday School. • Founded 14 years ago --- Ginbot 2, 1986 • Over 160 member organizations • 38 main offices and 227 branch offices • Member – students, graduates and staff members of Ethiopian Higher institutions. • Give Religious education for students of higher institutions • Active in 210 higher institution campuses – College and Universities. • So far 60,000 graduates – Certificate and Diploma • In 2000 E.C – on –campuses education for about 80,000 students.

  5. Organization active in Ethiopia • Ethiopian orthodox church -5 Colleges + 1 in Jimma to be operational soon - Economic giant • Well over 400 buildings and building sites • 300 villa’s • Over 2000 Sunday Schools with over 10 million students

  6. Organization active in Ethiopia -Association of Ethiopian Evangelical Churches • Founded 16 years ago • Umbrella of 37 local organizations and 16 International organizations • 12,000,000 members • 30,805 Missionary posts • 8 Academic institutes (Collages and Above)

  7. Organization active in Ethiopia • CRDA – Christian Relief Development Org. • Umbrella of 222 independent organizations • Mainly Catholic Church • Annual Budget of 10,000,000 • 7,000 employees

  8. Guess what is next … the sad reality of Muslims…unfortunate… no … deliberate discrimination on Muslims organizations

Organization active in Ethiopia • Muslims • 61 licensed organizations (established by Muslims and include both religious and non religious • Only half of them (31) have office • Only 15 are active • 3 International NGO- HayatulLigassa, African Muslims Agency, Islamic relief • One diploma level college – AWOLYA • One with branch in AA, Awasa , Arsi – have not yet secured recognition.
