Classroom Expectations5 Ps • PROMPT: Be in your seat, quiet and ready to work when the bell rings at the beginning of class. • PREPARED: Bring needed materials to class everyday. • POLITE: Show respect to teachers and classmates. • PRODUCTIVE: Give your best effort at all times. • PRIDE: Be proud of your effort, behavior, and school.

  6. Classroom Expectations • Raise your hand to be recognized. • Please keep hand and feet to yourself. • Follow directions the first time. • Food and drink are prohibited • Please don’t touch windows, shades, lights, fans.

  7. Discipline • Warning in class • Stay after class for conference • Teacher Initiated Intervention • Parent contact / After school detention • Office referral • Losing 3 P Points = After school detention

  8. Grading Scale • 100% - 90% A • 89% - 80% B • 79% - 70% C • 69% - 60% D • 59% - 0 F • Expectation is everyone is 80% or higher.

  10. Homework • Students will record all assignments in planner. • All assignments posted on classroom webpage. • Homework usuallytwice a week, • Could be more or less • When absent, it is your responsibility to get your work. • Check assignment bulletin board

  11. What are we going to do? We will be using a collaborative workshop model of learning which will include both independent reading and responding to literature along with direct teaching of skills and strategies to become proficient readers and writers.

  14. Fever – 1793by Laurie Halse Anderson Yellow fever is sweeping through Philadelphia, and for young Mattie, the epidemic begins with the sudden death of a friend. The author, Laurie Anderson smoothly incorporates extensive research into her story, the plot itself is less involving than the situation. However, most will appreciate this book for its portrayal of a fascinating and terrifying time in American history.
