Beginning the Discussion • Visit Sep. 3rd with Anthony Maciejewski, Chair of EE from Colorado State (successful NSF RED recipient). • Visit Sep. 15th with Nathan Klingbeil, Dean of Engineering at Wright State (over $5M in NSF funding to rethink math in the engineering curriculum). • Role of Professional Practice and Experiential Learning (PPEL) in helping to retain students. • Marketing and Communication as a tool for recruiting (but have to back with compelling “stories” that reflect reality). • Examining activities in ENGR 120. “In order to effect change, everyone had to accept responsibility for more women.” -- Laura Bottomley, NCSU
