Story • The nefarious pirate, Grimjaw, sets out to command his fleet of scurvy cohorts towards the ninja base of Ch’I. In this ninja base is a valuable ancient relic that gives mystical powers to its inhabitants.
Story cont… • The ninja leader, Chojun Miyagi has been aware of the pirate assault for many days and has prepared his ninjas to fight it. He knows that the only way to stop the invasion is to kill their leader.
Gameplay • Standard FPS • Significant Ranged and Melee Combat • Each pirate has a pistol and a cutlass. • Pistol does heavy damage but long reload time • Each ninja has ninja stars and a Ninja-To. • Ninja stars do less damage than the sword • Pirate has more health than a ninja, but a ninja walks silently on all surfaces and their clothing blends into dark areas. • Entering the ninja base gives both pirates and ninjas super powers
Appearance I • Pirate Ship is an overly elaborate and moderately large ship. • Should be gritty and real, but not overly worn and ragged • Two exits, off the ship into the water or the walkway
Appearance II • The beachhead / forest is standard and does not take up much space
Appearance III • Ninja base should be mostly underground with defences above ground. • Inside it should be an unelaborate dungeon with lots of dark corridors for the ninjas to hide in
Player Roles • Player can be a Pirate or a Ninja • Pirate and Ninja NPCs constantly respawning and attacking each other at the beach head. • Player can do quests to unlock parts of the map to make their side more powerful • To win as a pirate, player must steal the pirate treasure • To win as a ninja, player must kill the pirate leader
Development Spec • Hardware: • 1GHz or faster PIII/Athlon • 128MB RAM • 32MB Video Card • Software • DirectX 9.0b • UnrealEd • UT2K4 • Algorithm Style • Uses UnrealEd’s scripting and algorithm style
Benefits of PvN • UT2k4 Engine made for FPS like this • Can get right into making fun elements instead of abusing the engine into what it’s not made to do • Characters and environments easy and diverse to create • Fun universe makes it easy to add interesting features
