Diagnosis and Life Span • The diagnosis is based on family history and combination of symptoms • Life expectancy has increased 25% since 1972 • The average age has gone from in their 40s-70s
Transferred • Each parent with Marfan has a 50% chance to pass it on to their children • males and females both have the same risk • It is a mutation in a gene and is dominate
Interesting information • Flo Hyman was an Olympic silver medalist in volleyball in 1984. She had Marfan Syndrome and died unexpectedly at a match.
