My Time: Self Reflection • Realizing what the students understood, and what needs to be gone over again • Pondering about the students behaviors during the day • It can happen before or after school, during prep or recess • Anytime that you use your thoughts to prepare what you will teach next

  4. More…My Time: Self Reflection • CLEAR is now not only a way to teach but also, a way to self evaluate your teaching • Communication • Learners differences • Execution of the lesson • Assessments • All thought REFLECTION • The different methods of CLEAR should structure your reflection

  5. Ways to Self Reflect • Use pauses/quiet time in teaching to reflect • Take notes on what is crossing your mind • Use a journal • Video tape your self teaching • See your teaching in a different way • Look for usage of the CLEAR model

  6. Invite Learners Input • CLEAR is bases on the students so they must be able go give their input too • Students are blatantly honest • Asks them about • What they like about your teaching? • What they did not like about your teaching? • Suggestions for improvement

Read Supervisors Comments • There are many times when you will be evaluated • During student teaching by • The mentor teacher • Your professor • As a teacher by • Your principle • School board members • Read the comments, and try to fit them in to the CLEAR method, to improve future lesson plans

  8. Reframe Your Teaching • Review your lesson in several ways • Restructure your lesson in several ways • Reflect your lesson in several ways • Complete all of them in different perspectives • As your would supervisors • As the students would

Other Teachers Comments • It is important that you get feed back from your peers teachers • Give them a copy of the CLEAR method so they know how you would like to be evaluated • The most beneficial teachers to learn from are… • Accomplished and experienced teacher • Similar grade level and subject area • Non biased / truthful

  10. Resolve Problems • Finally improve you teaching, and your lesson plans • Take everything that you have come up with during the evaluation process and use it • Always remembering that you are not only teaching subjects but also LIFE 101
