Innovations in Case Management Systems Kelly Shuptrine Deputy Director Virginia Legal Aid Society kelly@vlas.org 434-455-3095
History • Virginia has 6 LSC-funded programs and 4 non-LSC funded programs • In attempt to try to be more of an integrated, coordinated statewide system VLAS applied for a TIG grant in 2001 for 3 statewide projects
TIG Projects • All programs using same client database software and moving to an ASP • Single statewide toll-free number for clients to call that routes them automatically to the right program • After hour scripts in 19 different subjects and 4 languages - over 19,000 scripts were accessed in 2005 (to listen to them call 434-528-4722 option 3)
Final project • Improvement to our CMS to increase efficiency and make it easier to start new centralized intake/hotline hotlines • New Intake System • New Hotline System
Goals • to design a user friendly system both for the intake workers to use and managers to maintain • add intake questions and advice into the software to speed the delivery and improve the quality and consistency of service to our clients
Results • VLAS has been using this system for over a year • Other VA programs have recently installed it (version C) • Over 800 intake questions and over 800 FAQ’s built into the system and associated with either a Problem Code or a National Index Code • All users of Kemps Prime can upgrade to version C for only the cost of installation time; will get all the questions and advice included
