Surf-Rock: The California Sound • It was the dominant sound of early 60s… • 45 years later it’s sound is still fresh • Surf music had a language all it’s own… • Your surf board was called a “woody…” • there were “2 girls for every boy”… • And the overall themes of almost every song were… • Surfing, partying, waxing your board, checking out the surf, or flexing your muscles.
The California surf cult spread to a national phenomenon and California was cool. They had perfected the art of being laid back and not being fazed by anything.
