Job Analysis: ERT (Emergency Response Technician)State Highway Administration Sarah Scholl Phillip Hash
What is an ERT? Text needed?
Method • CJAM (Combination Job Analysis) • Had SMEs rate Tasks on two scales: • Task Difficulty: 1 (easiest) – 7 (most difficult) • Criticality/consequences of error: 1 (consequences of error are not at all important) – 7 (consequences are extremely important) • Task importance value = Difficulty + Criticality
Method (cont) • Had SMEs rate KSAOs on four scales: • Necessary: Yes or No • Practical: Yes or No • Likely Trouble (if KSAO is ignored during selection): 1 (very little) – 5 (to an extremely great extent) • Superior From Average (to what extent do different levels of the KSAO distinguish the superior from the average worker): 1 (very little) – 5 (to an extremely great extent) • Critical Incidents
Meetings We’ve Had and Will Have • Personnel Development Office at SHA in Baltimore • Tasks and KSAOs clarification/reworking with SMEs at the Hanover location of SHA • Ride Along with an ERT (Tomorrow) • Tasks, KSAOs, and Critical Incidents will be rated and data will be collected
