  1. Career Planning: 8th Grade Exploratory Creating a four-year plan of study…

  2. Your child is just beginning a life-long process of thinking about finding their niche in this world!

  3. How will we go about this…? • Think BIG PICTURE-reflect on their skills, passions and dreams. • Research-based assessments w/ feedback. • Create short-term course plan (9th grade). • Create academic template for ALL FOUR high school years.

  4. Individual student “portfolio” pages… Includes: ADM High School Course Handbook, Registration, 4-year plans and more!

  5. The steps… Step 1: Students take three assessments to determine their skills and personal interests. Results will guide students towards some potential fields of study. KUDER.com assessments (3) A. Interest Inventory B. Skills Assessment C. Work Values

  7. Step 2: The 4-year plan…

  8. Parent/Guardian approval and signature required!

  9. Step 3: Registering for ADM classes In the Spring, students will register for classes for the upcoming academic year. Parents may be asked to review the four-year plan AGAIN before registration. Note--Four-year plans will be modified & approved annually throughout HS career.

  10. Parents have questions about HS course offerings… “ADM High School Handbook” can be accessed electronically on the student’s portfolio page OR on ADM’s school website.

  11. FAQ’s…? How many classes should my child take in HS? *6 classes + P.E. per semester (minimum) How many credits does my child need in order to graduate from HS? *They must acquire 44 credits: Mathematics=6 S.S.=7 Science=6 Comp.=1 English=8 P.E.=1 *remaining credits come from elective courses.

FAQ’s continued… • Math Starting Point-Integrative Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra , Geometry and BEYOND! • AP (Honors) Courses-Students must meet predetermined criteria (see HS Course Handbook for requirements). • Spanish or French?-NOT REQUIRED FOR ADM GRADUATION, thus, it is the student’s choice (most colleges want a MINIMUM of two years of same lang.)!

FAQ’s continued… • Driver’s Education-student must be 14 and have a learner’s permit prior to taking the class (cost is $325). *ADM offers a Fall, Spring and Summer offering for Driver’s Education…(limited availability with deadlines that must be met). *If ADM doesn’t work in your child’s schedule--There are many private companies that offer Driver’s Ed at different times of the year (Street Smarts, Auto Pilots, Drive Tech, etc.).
