  1. My name is Kendall Hiatt and I am from Marion, Indiana. I currently live in Fishers with my doggie named Frawley. I graduated from Ball State University in 2012 with my BS degree in Elementary Education and a concentration in Psychology/Counseling. This is my 6th wonderful year teaching second grade at WRE. I truly believe this is the best school to teach at as well as learn. I student taught in Carmel at Forest Dale in a Kindergarten classroom and loved it. I love spending time with my friends and family, finding a cozy spot to read, and enjoy any time spent outdoors.

  3. We discuss SOARing behavior daily as a positive reminder to always be our very best. We are proud Eagles, and we want to instill this same self worth in our students. I could not do my job without your support. Thank you for always reinforcing positive behavior from your child. • Safe, Organized, Act Responsibly, Respectful • Your child has the ability to earn EAGLE bucks when they display exceptional behavior. They can save these throughout the week and spend them on coupons for fun activities on Fridays.

  4. I understand that the time you have with your child is important. In order to protect that time, TEAM homework will be designed to allow you to do as much as your schedules will allow. You can choose which activities to do on the sheet. Students are earning Star points for their work and will count for my classroom’s points. Star points will be part of our classroom goal setting and our classroom celebrations. All homework will be coming home in their GREEN homework folder.

  5. This method of writing instruction focuses on me being the mentor author (modeling writing techniques) and conferring with students as they try out their hand with the writing techniques they learned.  This is taught with a mini-lesson at the beginning of a workshop while I model, then the students are given the chance to actively write independently.

  6. The students will be exploring many different genres and authors.  The readers will learn different reading strategies, learn how to ask questions about the text, and make connections using prior knowledge. Our reader's workshop focuses on students' independence but it also includes teacher conferences, peer reading, and small teacher-led reading groups. *Word Study and shared reading during 90-minute reading block as well.

  7. Our math program is Everyday Math. Your child will typically have math homework M-Thursdays. Be on the lookout for math homework that says ’Home Link’ in the top corner. These will be coming home in their green folders.

  8. Our class will rotate through a 4-day schedule: Art Music Gym Technology On days we have gym, please send your child to school wearing tennis shoes OR pack a pair of tennis shoes for them to change into.

  9. We will take 2 field trips this year to Conner Prairie and the fair grounds. In order to chaperone a field trip, you must have a cleared LEVEL 3 background check on file. The form to complete your background check can be found on the Noblesville Schools website. *This may take up to two weeks to be cleared, so be sure to fill it out in plenty of advanced time.
