  1. New Reception class parent’s meeting Monday 1st July 2019

  2. Start date • Monday 9th September • School day begins at 8.55am and finishes at 3pm • Both classes come in & go out of side entrance • Please let your child come in by themselves to encourage independence.

  3. Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum (EYFS) • 3 Prime areas • Personal, Social and Emotional development • - showing respect to other, behaviour, self – management (fastening shoes and coat, putting wellies on) • Communication and Language • Speaking and listening, talking about books, explaining pictures/objects in pictures, speaking in full sentences. • Physical Development • Riding bikes and scooters, handwriting, using scissors, construction with duplo or lego, cutting and sticking activities (cutting pictures out of catalogues or magazines), playdough

  4. Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum (EYFS) • 4 specific areas • Literacy • Reading, sharing books with an adult, recognising letters, writing name and then simple sentences. • Mathematics • Recognising numbers, counting to 10 and back (or 20), naming basic shapes, making patterns. • Understanding the world • Topic work, investigations. First topic is Middlesbrough- Where do I live? • Expressive arts and design • Drawing, painting, dressing up, music and dancing, making models.

  5. Usual daily timetable Morning 8.55 – 9.10am - Prayers and registration 9.10 – 9.30am – Letters and sounds 9.30 – 11am – Child initiated/ adult-led group work 11 – 11.30am – Mathematics 11.30 – 12.30pm – Lunch

  6. Daily timetable Afternoon 12.30 – 1pm – Topic /RE 1 – 2.30pm – Child initiated/adult-led group work 2.30 – 2.45pm – music and singing 2.45 – 3pm – Story and prayers.

  7. Essential items • School uniform (available Ross’) • Book bag - £3.50 (school office) • Water bottle (water only please no juice) • School Lunch • Wellies Please label all clothing and shoes with names.

  8. Stay and Play We will continue with Stay and Play sessions.

  9. Reading meeting We will be having our reading meeting on Wednesday 18th September at 2.30 pm
