Verb Tense A Verb’s Tense expresses the time of action or state of being. Verbs have 6 Tenses formed from the principle parts:
Verb Tense Present Past Future Present Perfect Past Perfect Future Perfect
Verb Tenses in Order of Time Past Perfect = existing or happening before a specific time in the past. I had played video games before I went to bed.
Verb Tenses in Order of Time Past = existing or happening in the past. I played with Jenny yesterday.
Verb Tenses in Order of Time Present Perfect = existing or happening sometime before now. I have played baseball for five years.
Verb Tenses in Order of Time Present = existing or happening now. I still play with my toys.
Verb Tenses in Order of Time Future Perfect = existing or happening before a specific time in the future. Tomorrow by this time, I will have finished playing our game.
Verb Tenses in Order of Time Future = existing or happening in the future. I will play with you this weekend.
Conjugating Verbs Conjugating a verb is listing all 6 tense forms of a verb. We will now conjugate the verb play in active voice.
Conjugating Verbs Principle parts of the Verb Play
Present Tense Singular I play you play he/she/ it plays Plural we play you play they play
