  2. Strengthening Rural Allied Health New Skills to Consolidate Local Service Delivery to Rural Communities

SRAH Project Proposed Outcomes • Identify gaps in local services due to the absence of / need to refresh the skills of local rural clinicians • Fund opportunities for rural staff to attend relevant professional development programs • Provide sustainable, accessible services to clients at the local level • Enhance specialty networks with larger centres to sustain and refine skills, and to provide regular support • Implement new or more flexible service models based upon the acquisition of new skills.

  4. SRAH Needs Assessment Allied health staff and allied health managers from across HNE were invited to participate in an on-line anonymous survey to provide information on: • Barriers to and support for attending education • Priority PD needs • Service gaps

Generic Professional Skills Allied Health Management Workshop Self reflection using a self assessment tool and progression to planning capability needs • A two hour interactive workshop presented by HNE OCL • 41 participants, 6 sites across HNE • Facilitators at each remote site • Development into an E Learning tool

  12. Multidisciplinary Clinical Skills Changing Health Behaviours Managing Chronic Disease Workshop • A two day Interactive Workshop by Heart Research Centre • 32 participants from across disciplines • Development of Collaborative Space and • E Learning Tool

Outcomes Sustainable PD Events with a Rural Focus – Programs being planned for next 12 months and beyond Consolidation of core & advanced skills – Manual Wheelchair Prescription & Seating Workshop – Swallowing Impairment Workshop – Autism Diagnostic Training (ADOS), Paediatric Sensory Defensiveness Training, Bariatric In-Service Enhanced specialty networks – Dysphagia Action Groups, CDSM Collaborative Space Flexible Service Models
