NYS Coastal Management Program Mission: To make waterfront communities better places. Objectives: - Redevelop deteriorated waterfronts - Give priority to water-dependent uses - Provide the public waterfront access for recreation - Preserve historic and aesthetic features - Protect natural resources and habitats - Manage development to improve water quality
NYS Coastal Management ProgramLocal Waterfront Revitalization Programs • A comprehensive land and water use plan • Can be accomplished in a single effort or through components focusing on a critical issue or discrete geographic area • An approved LWRP becomes the basis for action and decisions in the local waterfront area
