  2. Early English Old English was spoken and written in Britain from the 5th century to the middle of the 11th century and is really closer to the German language. With the arrival of the French-speaking Normans in 1066, Old English had dramatic changes and by 1350 it had changed into Middle English. Middle English is easier but still looks like a foreign language most of the time. By 1450, Middle English was replaced with Early Modern English, the language of Shakespeare, which is very identical to contemporary English.

  6. Shakespeare is credited with introducing 3,000 words with the Oxford English Dictionary. Shakespeare’s language is shown in all his works such as his poems and plays. Is an inspiration to many poets and writers with his style of writing.

  7. Shakespeare’s ability to form new, popular words and ability to maintain a wide variety of vocabulary gave him his nickname a “man of words.”
