Pullen - Visiting ResearcherNPS-MOVES March to August 2003 • Significant accomplishments: • Investigation of Overlay Multicast for XMSF • created pre-prototype to understand issues • Initial deployment of XMSF Distributed Testbed • demonstration of Selectively Reliable Multicast • Course “Networking Virtual Environments” • delivered over Internet, captured for replay using Network EducationWare and Web video • offered Fall 2003 at Old Dominion University-VMASC • Conference and GMU PI participation XMSF Activities

XMSF Overlay Multicaster (XOM) • August ‘02 Monterey workshop identified many-to-many multicasting with Quality of Service as a significant technology gap for Web-enabled M&S • and overlay multicast as a solution • approach emerging at CMU, MIT, elsewhere • Funding not available for prototype in 2003 • did a study instead (published in DS-RT’03 paper) • but we have been able to create a pre-prototype as GMU/NPS student project • potential: multicast with QoS-priority Internet-wide! • also compatible with reliable multicast development XMSF Activities
