Committed to the protectionof the environment already for decades • Blum promotes dispatch of containers by rail. • All heating systems are converted to natural gas • New control technology installed for heating, cooling, ventilation, etc.: • Supervision of supply systems • Continuous control of energy consumption. Result: Power savings of up to 40 % • Introduction of aqueous cleaning agents for the degreasing of metal. Preparation are made for the eco audit. A manual on environmental protection is published. Blum’s environmental management system is certified according to ISO 14001 which is acknowledge the world over. New ECO-Pack 5 reusable packaging is developed for semi-finished products. Project planning for a new wastewater treatment plant for plant 6. Renewal of heating system to match the state of the art Reusable packaging is used for the first time. New waste management concept is introduced. Approx. 50 % of waste otherwise dumped on a site is avoided. Blum is presented an Environmental Protection Award for its noise protection measures by Bregenz Council. The INSERTA hinge system is launched on the market to signal our environmentally-friendly thinking.
