    6. How do Kleenoil Bypass Filters differ from the standard main flow, OEM Filters? Standard main flow filters are designed not to work! Think about it. If main flow filters were dense enough to keep your oil clean, would restrict the oil flow to the point of engine shutdown. Because main flow oil filters cannot be restrictive, they can only filter particles down to around 25 to 40 microns. The tolerances between the moving parts in your engine are around 3 microns. Therefore the particles in your oil between 25 and 3 microns create the friction and wear in your engine. This is the reason why you currently change your oil. You change it in an attempt to keep it as clean as possible. It is a very poor attempt! According to a study, the particles from 20 microns down to 5 microns are those responsible for up to 60% of engine wear. If you could filter oil in the engine down to 1 micron or below, your oil would stay clean all the time. This is exactly what the Kleenoil Bypass Filter does. This process cannot be accomplished in the main oil flow. Kleenoil filters do it in a Bypass loop (thus the name Bypass Filtration). It uses a cellulose filter medium that not only filters particles down to the size of 1 micron or less, but it also filters 100% of any water that may accumulate through condensation, or through the combustion process itself. This eliminates the possibility of corrosion and hydro-cracking. Water contamination in lubricants can cut bearing life by as much as 80%. Cost Savings Contaminants, water, acid, carbon, wear metals, airborne dust are the limiting factors to the life of the oil. If they are removed continuously and immediately as they are formed, the reason for changing the oil is removed. The general recommendation is for the Kleenoil cartridge to be changed at the established oil change interval, and the oil and oil filters to be changed at every tenth cartridge. Cost savings are equal to 9x's the average oil and filter change cost, minus the replacement cartridge cost.

Filtering Efficiency and Operating Principle.     The micron filtration system is media based and the Kleenoil Filter Cartridges are specially wound in U.K. The level of filtration is BS 5540/4, ISO 14/9 and equivalent NAS 1638 class 6 (hydraulic oil specifications).   The Kleenoil filter cartridge acts both by absorption and adsorption in a continuous process. The long fibres of the paper attract the water, which arrives either through the combustion process or by condensation, and absorb it like a sponge, at the same time rejecting the larger oil molecules, which are forced to pass between the tight windings of the cartridge. As the oil passes through the cartridge minute carbon, wear metals and dust are extracted from the oil by adhering to the many surfaces of the filter- a process known as adsorption. NAS GRADE The cleanliness of your Hydraulic Fluid is very crucial to the trouble free and cost effective operation of your hydraulic system.  Hydraulic components are very expensive and need special consideration when selecting and filtering this fluid. ISO 4406 code is a standard that is recognized in the industry.  Certain recommended fluid cleanliness quantities are necessary to realize the best performance and cost saving operation of your hydraulic system.

ON-LINE PARTICLE COUNTER Oil Filtration Systems - Portable Fluid Analysis Kit was developed to enable a person to conduct immediate oil analysis and obtain an immediate fluid cleanliness contamination level of the sampled fluid. The kit enables the end user to achieve an ISO Cleanliness Code Cleanliness Level in as fast as 15 minutes. You can use this kit to determine which systems need improved filtration. When improvements are made it can be used to monitor the systems cleanliness status. This kit is a great tool to demonstrate the effectiveness of Oil Filtration Systems Synthetic Media Particulate Removal Elements.

This is the most cost effective unit available and requires NO yearly calibration. Simple to use with instant LED readout for visible results and with a built in data storage memory board for downloading all relevant data. This enables the user to record and create real time reports, in tables and graphs exported to excel files.  

    14. OIL PATCH TESTING KIT TESTING PROCEDURE A minimum 25 ml fluid sample is needed per analysis. A 25 mm diameter 1 or 5 micron patch membrane is placed under the fluid funnel assembly. Then a 25 ml fluid sample is placed into the funnel assembly. With the funnel assembly attached to the vacuum pump the analysis can now be performed. The vacuum pump is then actuated which pulls the fluid from the funnel through the 25 mm patch membrane filter. Use the solvent to wash the funnel of all fluid residue. Then place the patch membrane onto the included 3/5 index cards and seal the patch membrane with the included adhesive  laminating seals.  The laminating seals keep outside particles from contaminating the patch membrane. Then use the 100X microscope to visually see the captured particles caught by the 1 or 5 micron patch membrane filters. This visual representation can be used to determine the ISO Fluid Cleanliness Class Range. 

    15. It is understood that…. More than 70% of Hydraulic Failures are caused by contaminants in the oil. Heavily contaminated oil can reduce power by as much as 15-20%, slowing machine response and taking longer to perform an operation. By following a few basic tips, the life of piston rods, seals, valves and pumps can be more than doubled. By maintaining the hydraulic fluid in "as-new" condition, the life of the same components can be increased tenfold.                                               PARTICLES BREED PARTICLES An abrasive particle passing through the system scrapes off further particles. Larger ones join the original to create a mass of wear catalysts, smaller ones become silt which builds up on metal surfaces to clog oil flow and cause sticking valve components. In-line filters do not remove silt, (particles below 15 micron) and do not remove water. The benefits are: A dramatic reduction in component wear(seals, piston rods, pumps,etc) A reduction in the incidence of sticking and worn valve components. Extended life of in-line oil filters.     16. MICRON FILTRATION SYSTEM The Kleenoil Filtration System is a multi-purpose fluid cleaning and transfer rig, which is available in different models. The system can be used to clean most mineral oils such as hydraulic, gear and transmission oils, diesel type fuels and many soluble oils and fluids. In its static form, it can be permanently connected to large fluid reservoirs where the machines and engines are in constant use. As a mobile trolley it has a wide variety of applications, such as oil and fuel transfer and rotational cleaning of factory machinery. The micron filtration system has three models:

For neat cutting oils (with magnetic filter) Magnet filters or fluid line filters reduce tool and work piece damage caused by ferrous metal chips, filings, and dust which get into coolant systems during burnishing, drilling, milling, grinding, broaching and other machining operations. They prevent ferrous particles from flowing into reservoir and back to the work piece. Less down time due to tool breakage. More work hours between tool reconditions.  Ferrous materials and other suspended materials are automatically removed from the fluid, relatively dry.

MICROMAG FILTRATION SYSTEM (for removing ferrous chips) In the Micromag Filtration System, contaminated fluid enters the inlet to be equally dispersed via radial channels, thus slowing the fluid down to pass outside the centrally mounted ‘rare earth’ magnetic core, where you will see the particle capture, as more particles attract to the core the magnetic flux circuit geometry generates a controlled build up of contamination, so ensuring that the filter will not block  - the filtered fluid then flows through return slots through the center exiting via the outlet into the Kleenoil System. The oil has been cleansed of all magnetic particulate, to be passed through the Kleenoil System, either in single, twin or four unit form, whereby all remaining contaminates are removed through cellulose media down to 1 micron relative as well as all water. ( pump & motors are available 240v / 110v in any configuration of sizes to suit the application,  )

Typical applications are center less and heavy stock removal grinding machines, honing, gear cutting and chip-producing machinery.

    28. By-Pass hydraulic filter unit The Kleenoil "high pressure" oil filter can be fitted on the "by pass" basis to hydraulic systems, compressors, or any system with oil at pressure up to 3000psi. The flow through the Kleenoil filter is controlled to approx. 4ltrs per minute at 40psi. A flow rate which is low enough to have negligible effect on most "system pressures", yet high enough to ensure that oil is being kept in "as new" condition.

    34. By-Pass luboil filter unit Kleenoil By-pass Filter is an additional oil filter fitted in a by-pass route on an engine or machine without making any alteration to the existing system. It is capable to retain contaminant particles, carbon, wear metals down to under 1 micron and totally absorbs water. It maintains the oil within its operating specifications therefore its life is increased resulting in savings in oil cost.       By removing the impurities as they form, the filter prevents the build up of acids and maintains the oil within its operating  specifications. By removing them  immediately as they are formed, the Kleenoil System will enable oil to be retained in use considerably longer than is usual. The principle of “By-pass Filtration” is to leave the standard filters in place to cope with the bulk of the larger particles, which is all it can be expected to do given the speed at which oil must pass through it. The By-pass Filter is then installed on a separate loop which is not on the ‘full-flow’ route

    37. Filter cartridges The KLEENOIL cartridge is made of densely wound pure coniferous long fibre wood pulp paper. It is held together in a material casing and comes in specified sizes for use in the appropriate filter housings.    The Kleenoil Cartridge will meet NAS12 even on a single flow and after equivalent 5 passes through the filter, it will reach NAS6. This is substantially cleaner than most new oils.    The filter cartridge acts both by absorption in a continuous recycling process. AIR PRE-CLEANER KLEENOIL introduced the KLEENAIR Air Precleaner over 12 years ago and it has been a great success particularly for plant working in hostile environments such as quarrying and mining. It is a simple, economical and effective air cleaner, which combined with the Kleenoil System maintains the highest standard of engine hygiene. An inexpensive installation that replaces the air intake rain cap, and removes airborne contaminants before reaching the engines air filter. A particularly ideal solution to reduce service and maintenance problems in excessively dirty and dusty working environments. The benefits are that the KLEENAIR filter requires no maintenance, the standard air filter will last longer and therefore reduce element replacement and maintenance costs, reduce engine wear and an increase fuel efficiency.

    40. The action of the KLEENAIR Air Precleaner:   Contaminated air enters the KLEENAIR pre-cleaner which is installed in the air intake pipe. Specially designed and arranged vanes direct the air to a finely balanced stainless steel impeller.  The impeller, which is the only moving part, spins on a sealed bearing and expels heavier than air particles through a louver on the side of the housing. The clean air continues to the standard air filters. As much as 90 % of particles over 10 microns will be ejected by the KLEENAIR impeller, leaving only a small amount of contaminants for the standard air filter to remove.
