  2. Setting It Up • How do I right click? • First go to Launchpad  • Then go to System Preferences  • Hit Trackpad

  3. Choose your method!(Challenge: experiment with new methods. They can be very cool.)The trackpad is your friend. Check out the three choices at the top.

  4. Finding Your Work Either use the little magnifying glass in the top right corner…

  5. Use this!! (Name matches is great for finding specific titles.) Never underestimate your search options OR THE FINDER

  6. Accessing Drives • Hit Command K • Select Apps, Data and Home (This may need to be repeated if they disappear, so remember Command K)

  7. Using your Finder with Drives • You can drag your favourite folders into your Finder for frequent use

  8. Tips on Drives • Data • School • Staff (Shared Drive, KLA Groups, Etc…) • TimeTable • Home • Staff and Student “private” folders • Apps • Any application that needs installing

  9. Mail • Outlook • School-based • Easy to sign-in • Familiar • Mail • Manage multiple accounts • Mac-based • Internet • It’s always there for you • You can still access your mail via the internet

  10. Organising Your Work • Use your finder! • Movies, Music and Pictures • Arranged through Programs • If you need a specific photo, mp3, etc., drag it to the Desktop Use Your Colours

  11. What Programs Don’t Work • BookIt • TimeChart • WorkFlows • Others? Why?? (They need an update. ) Mac’s don’t love old programs. They’re so hip! (And so are you!) Images: FreeDigitalPhotos.net

  12. Don’t Forget to Clean Up! • Make your dashboard look presentable • Don’t use Freemind? Take it away! • Right click (see slide 2) and un-tick Keep in Dock!

  13. What’s here?!? a.k.a. Why are Macs so cool anyway? • Check out your Applications Folder • Have a play. • Do your research. • Google “FreeMind Tutorial” • Lots of information on YouTube, etc… • Check out the Mac Website http://www.apple.com/au/findouthow/mac/

  14. Some Key Players A intuitive and unique drawing program A multi-format video player Organise your fonts. And ‘em, delete e’m, customise‘em, look at ‘em

  15. Photo Manipulation Tool Edit / Create Music Take pictures / videos from your computer. (Also good for voice recordings if you Garage Band is too much.)

  16. Organise your thoughts or jot down ideas. Colour coded and save-able, too! Photo editing software. Add borders and fun filters.

  17. And iMovie!!! A great way to look professional and get students excited.   18. And finally… the App Store You can find most anything here. Many things are free. Transferrable to other Macs with an account.

  19. Things to look for… Not just the star rating But the number of ratings, too! Use the catagories to browse around
