  4. Platform • The political platform of the Libertarian Party reflects the ideas of libertarianism, favoring minimally regulated markets, a less powerful state, strong civil liberties, the legalization of cannabis, separation of church and state, open immigration, non-interventionism and neutrality in diplomatic relations, freedom of trade and travel to all foreign countries, and a more responsive and direct democracy. The Libertarian Party has also supported the repeal of NAFTA, CAFTA, and similar trade agreements, as well as the United States exit from the United Nations, WTO, and NATO.

  5. Political World • Libertarians believe in strict limitations on government, direct democracy, and the restoring of civil liberties. • Gun Control- The government would restore civil liberties by repealing gun control laws that infringe on the right to self-defense. • Drugs- The government wants to release all non-violent prisoners to declare drug peace. • The libertarians are liberal in this world because they don’t want government intervention.

  6. Economic World • Libertarians believe in no Federal control over business regulations, a free-market economy, low taxes, protection of property rights, and free or voluntarily trade. • Economy- The government should have no intervention with the economy. • Property Rights- The government’s only role should be to protect property rights, adjudicate disputes, and provide a legal framework in which voluntary trade is protected. • Libertarians are liberal in this world because they do not support government intervention.

  7. Social World • Libertarians believe that welfare, education, social security, and healthcare should be out of the Federal Government’s control. • Health Care- The government should make health care safe and affordable. • Education- The government should not interfere with the parents’ choice of their children’s education. • Libertarians are liberal in this world because they refuse government to intervene in social issues.

  8. Cultural World • Libertarians believe in separation of church and state and the legalization of cannabis. • Drugs-The government should legalize drugs. • Abortion- The government should be kept out of the matter, and women have complete control of their body. • Libertarians are liberal in this world because once again they strongly believe that the government’s power should be limited.
