  1. Surgical Equipment Repair and Calibration There are several different types of surgical equipment in any given hospital or healthcare facility. Each sector has its own group of equipment that is used on a regular basis. Ultimately, they all have one thing in common, each piece is only as good as its repair and calibration.

  2. Why is Surgical Equipment Repair and Calibration so important? Importance of Calibration • Most devices in a healthcare setting come pre-calibrated upon delivery. However, as it is used, it becomes subjected to routine wear and tear. Each time it is used or transported; the original calibration gets knocked out of position a little bit.

  3. If a piece of surgical equipment is out of alignment, it could provide inaccurate readings. In some circumstances, this could be the difference between an accurate diagnosis and a missed diagnosis. In other cases, as with robot-assisted surgery, minor calibration errors can cause serious physical harm.
