Introduction • Software application for organising and editing picture images and video clips. • The workshop concentrates on the basics of organising and editing photos • Starting the application gives a choice of ‘Organiser’ or ‘Editor’.
The Organiser • Holds a catalogue of pictures and displays them as thumbnail images • Catalogues can be created, added to, backed up and pictures printed
File types • JPEG (.jpg) - Commonest image file type from digital cameras. Compressed. • Camera raw (.crw, .cr2, .nef, .dng etc.) - Image file types from advanced digital cameras. • PhotoShop (.psd) - PhotoShop’s own format, saves layers etc.
The Editor • Open from ‘Fix’ in the Organiser or independently • The screen shows a toolbox on the left • The panel bin on the right • Typical ‘Windows’ menus at the top
Doing things • Straighten • Crop • Resize. • Correct perspective
Doing things • Adjust lighting • Make black & white • Sharpening.
Doing things • Clone - copy from one area to another • Correct part of a photo.
Doing things • Copy / paste
Doing things • Make a Panorama
Doing things • Open a RAW file.
