Self Employed Women Workers Self-employed women workers are those who earn a living through their own labour. Unlike workers in the organized sector they do not obtain regular salaried employment. Generally not considered creditworthy by Banks or lack of access to obtain credit from banks.

SEWA BANK OBJECTIVES • The main objective of SEWA Bank is to help poor women reverse the process of decapitalisation at the micro level and to begin the process of capitalization. This is accomplished by providing financial services like savings, credit and insurance which help women : • To escape them from the clutches of moneylenders • To rescue their mortgaged/pledged assets, such as land, ornaments and cattle
To create their own assets, such as a house, savings and equipments • To expand their business through productive credit • To increase their bargaining power • To improve their living conditions; by providing infrastructure finance and • Ultimately, to empower them
