Purpose • Offer a low cost opportunity for Hastings youth to train and improve their hockey skills year round • Stay competitive with other Twin Cities communities
Where did this idea come from? • A group of Hastings hockey boosters noticed a trend of hockey training facilities being created in various communities. • Other facilities were visited to get an understanding of the operations
Facility Size and Location • Facility will be approximately 3,500 to 4,000 sq ft. • Location will be on the east end of the east rink, across the street from the outdoor rink
Types of Training • Shooting • Stick Handling • Passing • Goaltending • Plyometric Training
Who can use this facility? • Coaches of all Hastings hockey teams • Individual Hastings players for personal coaching with a trainer • Off-season hockey camps
Ownership and Maintenance • The city of Hastings will own the building • HHB will be in charge of maintaining the building • A full time facility coordinator will be hired
Facility Coordinator Duties • Schedule team and individual training sessions as well as summer camps • Schedule volunteer hours for cleaning and maintenance • Advertise • Maintain equipment • Oversee all operations
Revenue Sources • HHB Fees • Training Camps • Individual Training Sessions
Expenses • Coordinator Position • Utilities (heat, electricity, etc.) • Equipment • Marketing • General upkeep
Profit • No one will be profiting from the training facility • All revenue will go towards maintaining and improving the training facility
Timeline • Building of the facility depends on how soon we can raise the necessary funding • The goal is to begin building in Spring of 2012
Capital Campaign • A feasibility study was conducted by an outside firm that determined the community can raise approximately $375,000 • The more funding raised, the better the facility will be for our youth
Campaign Strategy Those who will be asked for a gift: • Key lead supporters of Hastings Hockey • Hastings Hockey Parents • Alumni of Hastings Hockey • Business/Civic Groups • Other interested community members
Parent Phase • The parent phase will include Hastings hockey parent volunteers delivering information and picking up pledge cards • This will take place in November • No one will have to directly ask for money
