This project aims to address the lack of entrepreneurship in the community of San Pablo by providing funding, training, and mentorship opportunities. By leveraging microfinancing and appropriate technologies, we can empower young men and women to become successful entrepreneurs and create a thriving community.

Entrepreneurship • By Anthony Cerrato and Jeremy Wong
Problem Question • How do we help foster the change from a community that struggles to meet its needs to one that meets or even exceeds its needs?
Problem • The community of San Pablo has a lack of Entrepreneurship • They want one of the goals of Guateca to be to encourage young men and women to be Entrepreneurs
There is a less developed system of job specialization in San Pablo
Pete has also stated that one of his goals on his first Guateca trip was to create enterprises in the community. • So far no enterprises have been created from Guateca in San Pablo
Constraints • Funding • Training • Competition from the private sector • Hurdles from government • Lack of resources • Lack of mentorship within the community
Microfinancing • Microfinancing is a possible solution and has been used to finance many enterprises in rural low-income communities • Kiva has given $248 million in loans with a 98.87% return rate
What is being done? • The appropriate technologies being developed in this class and in the MIT D lab. • Making sure the technology will be used to create enterprises will be difficult, but it is not impossible!
