  1. Water Pollution In HK

  2. Causes&Effects Livestock Waste Oil Spillage Residues of Pesticides Detergents in Sewage Industrials Effluents

  3. Sewerage Master Plans(SMPs)

  4. Strategic Sewage Disposal Scheme(SSDS) the scheme aims to collect, treat and dispose of the over 1.7 million cubic metres of sewage generated each day from the densely populated urban areas of Hong Kong. One of the major deep underground tunnels Interim sea outfall constructed under the Strategic Sewage Disposal Scheme

  5. The major infrastructure of the sewage system in the SSDS at first stage in 1999.

  6. Toxic Metal Discharge into Victoria Harbour

  7. Chemically Enhanced Primary Treatment (CEPT) The Stonecutters Island Sewage Treatment Works of the HATS Stage I use the chemically enhanced primary treatment (CEPT) process. This is the first time this treatment process is used in Hong Kong. In this process chemicals (ferric chloride and polymer) are added to the sewage to facilitate the settlement of suspended solids. The settled sludge is removed from the sewage resulting in a clear supernatant for discharge to the sea.

  8. Harbour Area Treatment Scheme (HATS) - Overview Stage I includes the construction of a 23.6 km long deep tunnel conveyance system to convey sewage collected from Kowloon stretching from Tsuen Wan in the west to Tseung Kwan O in the east and from northeast areas of Hong Kong Island comprising Chai Wan and Shau Kei Wan to Stonecutters Island, where a treatment works adopting a chemical process using ferric chloride is built to treat sewage. 昂船洲污水處理廠

  9. Strategic Sewage Disposal Scheme (SSDS) has been renamed as Harbour Area Treatment Scheme (HATS) since March 2001! Are the harbour clean? No! Visit http://www.info.gov.hk/cleanharbour for details.

  10. Water Quality in Victoria Harbour Characterised by low dissolved oxygen and high E.coli levels, the water quality of Victoria Harbour is generally unsatisfactory. The poor water quality is mainly due to the lack of proper sewage treatment for urban areas around Victoria Harbour. The Government is tackling the problem through the implementation of the "Harbour Area Treatment Scheme (HATS)", formerly known as the "Strategic Sewage Disposal Scheme (SSDS)"
