Happy Christmas! Welcome to ICEL International Church of Evangelical Christians in Leuven www.icel.be
HARK, THE HERALD ANGELS SING • HARK! THE HERALD ANGELS SING, • "Glory to the newborn King: • peace on earth, and mercy mild, • God and sinners reconciled!" • Joyful, all ye nations, rise, • join the triumph of the skies; • with th'angelic hosts proclaim, • "Christ is born in Bethlehem!" • Hark! the herald angels sing, • "Glory to the newborn King"
Christ, by highest heaven adored, • Christ, the everlasting Lord, • late in time behold him come, • offspring of the Virgin's womb: • veiled in flesh the Godhead see; • hail th'incarnate Deity, • pleased with us in flesh to dwell, • Jesus, our Immanuel. • Hark! the herald angels sing, • "Glory to the newborn King"
Hail the heaven-born Prince of Peace! • Hail the Sun of Righteousness! • Light and life to all he brings, • risen with healing in his wings. • Mild he lays his glory by, • born that we no more may die, • born to raise us from the earth, • born to give us second birth. • Hark! the herald angels sing, • "Glory to the newborn King"
WHAT CHILD IS THIS • WHAT CHILD IS THIS, who, laid to rest, • On Mary's lap is sleeping? • Whom angels greet with anthems sweet, • While shepherds watch are keeping? • This, this is Christ, the King, • Whom shepherds guard and angels sing: • Haste, haste to bring Him laud, • The Babe, the Son of Mary!
Why lies He in such mean estate, • Where ox and ass are feeding? • Good Christian, fear: for sinners here • The silent Word is pleading. • Nail, spear shall pierce him through, • The Cross be borne for me, for you; • Hail! Hail the Word made flesh, • The Babe, the Son of Mary!
So bring Him incense, gold, and myrrh, • Come, peasant, king to own Him. • The King of kings salvation brings; • Let loving hearts enthrone Him. • Raise, raise the song on high, • The Virgin sings her lullaby. • Joy! Joy! For Christ is born, • The Babe, the Son of Mary.
SEE, AMID THE WINTER’S SNOW • SEE, AMID THE WINTER’S SNOW, • Born for us on earth below, • See, the gentle Lamb appears, • Promised from eternal years. • Lo! Within a manger lies • He who built the starry skies, • He who, throned in height sublime, • Sits amid the Cherubim.
Hail thou ever-blessed morn! • Hail redemption's happy dawn! • Sing through all Jerusalem: • “Christ is born in Bethlehem!”
Say, you holy shepherds, say, • What your joyful news today. • Wherefore have you left your sheep • On the lonely mountain steep? • "As we watched at dead of night, • Lo! We saw a wondrous light; • Angels singing 'Peace on earth' • Told us of the Savior's birth."
Hail thou ever-blessed morn! • Hail redemption's happy dawn! • Sing through all Jerusalem: • “Christ is born in Bethlehem!”
Sacred infant, all-divine, • What a tender love was thine • Thus to come from highest bliss • Down to such a world as this! • Teach, oh teach us, holy Child, • By thy face so meek and mild, • Teach us to resemble thee • In thy sweet humility!
Hail thou ever-blessed morn! • Hail redemption's happy dawn! • Sing through all Jerusalem: • “Christ is born in Bethlehem!”
ISAIAH 11:1; 35:1-2 • 11:1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: • 35:1-2 The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose. It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of the Lord, and the excellency of our God.
LO, HOW A ROSE E’ER BLOOMING • LO, HOW A ROSE E’ER BLOOMING • From tender stem hath sprung! • Of Jesse's lineage coming • As men of old have sung. • It came, a flower bright, • Amid the cold of winter • When half-gone was the night.
Isaiah 'twas foretold it, • The Rose I have in mind: • With Mary we behold it, • The virgin mother kind. • To show God's love aright • She bore to men a Savior • When half-gone was the night.
This Flower, whose fragrance tender • With sweetness fills the air, • Dispels with glorious splendor • The darkness everywhere. • True man, yet very God, • From sin and death He saves us • And lightens every load
SILENT NIGHT • SILENT NIGHT, holy night! • All is calm, all is bright • 'round yon virgin mother and child; • holy infant, so tender and mild, • sleep in heavenly peace, • sleep in heavenly peace.
Silent night, holy night! • Shepherds quake at the sight, • glories stream from heaven afar, • heavenly hosts sing alleluia; • Christ, the Savior, is born! • Christ, the Savior, is born!
Silent night, holy night! • Son of God, love’s pure light, • radiant beams from thy holy face, • with the dawn of redeeming grace, • Jesus, Lord, at thy birth, • Jesus, Lord, at thy birth.
THE FIRST NOEL • THE FIRST NOEL the angel did say • Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay; • In fields as they lay keeping their sheep, • On a cold winter's night that was so deep. • Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, • Born is the King of Israel.
They lookèd up and saw a star • Shining in the east, beyond them far, • And to the earth it gave great light, • And so it continued both day and night. • And by the light of that same star • Three wise men came from country far; • To seek for a king was their intent, • And to follow the star wherever it went. • Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, • Born is the King of Israel.
[Ladies] • This star drew nigh to the northwest, • O'er Bethlehem it took its rest, • And there it did both stop and stay • Right over the place where Jesus lay.
[Men] • Then entered in those wise men three • Full reverently upon their knee, • And offered there in his presence • Their gold, and myrrh, and frankincense. • [All] • Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, • Born is the King of Israel.
Then let us all with one accord • Sing praises to our heavenly Lord; • That hath made heaven and earth of naught, • And with his blood mankind hath bought. • Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, • Born is the King of Israel.
JOY TO THE WORLD • JOY TO THE WORLD; the Lord is come; • Let earth receive her King; • Let every heart prepare him room, • And heav'n and nature sing. (3X)
Joy to the earth, the Savior reigns, • Let all our songs employ; • While fields and floods, rocks, hills, and plains, • Repeat the sounding joy. (3X)
No more let sins and sorrows grow, • Nor thorns infest the ground; • He comes to make his blessings flow • Far as the curse is found. (3X)
He rules the world with truth and grace, • And makes the nations prove • The glories of his righteousness, • And wonders of his love. (3X)
