What is Demand High? Is it a new method? Is it anti-dogme? Is it anti-communicative approach? Is it making everything more difficult? Isn’t it just good ELT Practice?
What is Demand High? Demand High isn’t a method. It’s a meme! One does not simply Walk into a classroom
What is Demand High? Meme: “a unit for carrying cultural ideas, symbols or practices, which can be transmitted from one mind to another through writing, speech, gestures, rituals or other imitable phenomena …”. http://demandhighelt.wordpress.com/2013/01/24/demand-high-isnt-a-method-its-a-meme/
What is Demand High? What if I told you It isn’t about the learnER, it’s about the learnING
What is Demand High? Puppyme?
Jim & Adrian ask • Are our learners capable of more, much more? • Have the tasks and techniques we use in class become rituals and ends in themselves? • How can we stop “covering material” and start focusing on the potential for deep learning? • What small tweaks and adjustments can we make to shift the whole focus of our teaching towards getting that engine of learning going?
What’s been on my mind: ME I’ve done DELTA and all that.... I’m giving other teachers guidance and advice for the classroom... I know I can give a good lesson, but.....

What’s been on my mind: Teachers One CP has a group of 14-15 year olds who speak entirely in L1 throughout the lesson. What would you suggest during feedback?
What’s been on my mind: Teachers One CP has a group of 14-15 year olds who speak entirely in L1 throughout the lesson. What would you suggest during feedback? Together they could draw up a plan / classroom rules determining when and how English will be used in class. It’ll take time, and it may never work as well as the teacher may imagine. On the other hand, at this age students change a lot, and so it may well be a matter of surviving until the next summer holiday. In September the teacher may find herself facing a completely different group of students.
What’s been on my mind: Our peers What percentage of IH students are YL?
