STEP BY STEP • 1996 – first trainings for BRCY volunteers on prevention of drug abuse risky behaviour • 1997 – accumulation of experience and expertise and external assistance • 1997 – launching peer education. Trained volunteers entering Bulgarian schools • 1999 – performance of peer education system (three modules) on prevention of risky behaviour • 2001 – conducting trainings for other NGO’s, young people from roma population • 2002 – setting up network of regional trainers on prevention of risky behaviour • 2004 – elaboration and publishing of a manual for trainers “Talks about drugs”

CONTENT Chapter 1 – Principles of the Movement Chapter 2 – Model of BRCY “Peer to peer education” • Informational module • Interpersonal communication and team work • Expert and preparatory module N.B.Every volunteer attended three modules training is supervised by professionals and acknowledged trainers

Taking decisions under pressure • The role of verbal and non-verbal communication in the trainer’s behavior • The ability to say “No” to strongly proposed drugs by peer • Utilization of proper techniques for effective introduction of trainers to varies publics • Being tolerant while working with peers from different social groups and minorities
