Social media marketing • “Social media marketing is a form of internet marketing which seeks to achieve branding and marketing communication goals through the participation in various social media networks”. • Describes use of social networking sites, online communities, blogs,etc for marketing, branding, sales, public relations and customer service. • Common social media marketing tools include Twitter,Facebook, Wikipedia, Orkut andYoutube.
The Five Pillars of Social Media Marketing • Identity-based Interaction • Declaration of your value, who you are, and where you can be found. • Can be done using About Us pages on your blog or website, your MySpace profile ,etc • Association-based Interaction • Your customers’ opportunity to associate themselves with you • This can be accomplished through things like becoming “Friends” on MySpace,etc.
User-initiated Conversation • Your users opportunity to create their own declarations or questions, and your opportunity to respond. • Examples are forums and groups sites like Google Groups, Yahoo! Groups . • Provider-initiated Conversation • Your chance to find out what your customers think, feel about your product. • Example is Current TV.
In-Person Interaction • The pinnacle form of interaction with your customers. • There are several sites like Meetup, Upcoming ,Evite, etc. that can help in finding local events or coordinating own events.
