  3. 本系設立宗旨 • 培育對地球科學有興趣之青年,使其經過完整之專業教育與訓練,于畢業后得積極參加地球科學領域相關之研究與發展及國家建設工作。

  4. 本系教育目標 • 學士班學生-主要在于培育地球科學及相關應用領域之基礎調查與通識人才。 • 碩士班研究生-主要在于培養地球科學及相關應用領域之基礎研發人力,培養學生學術研究基本能力及配合相關產業需要之分析及研發技術。 • 博士班研究生-主要在成就地球科學及相關領域之基礎科學獨立研究人才,培養學生獨立發展地球科學基礎研究之能力及開發新領域及新技術的潛能。

Mineral and rock physics lab – “In-door” geophysics (Jennifer Kung) From atomic scale to global scale Major research is to investigate the behaviors of Earth materials under high pressure and high temperature using the knowledge of crystal chemistry, mineral physics to understand/ interpret the geophysical observations of interior of Earth, which reflect the structure, composition and the dynamic behavior of the Earth. Major research methods or facilities: X ray diffraction, vibrational spectroscopy and ultrasonic measurements in conjunction with high pressure facilities, like large volume high pressure apparatus or diamond anvil.
