The study tested student navigation in MyAUP, analyzing task completion efficiency and user perceptions. Results indicate the need for enhanced service visibility and website organization.

MyAUP Usability Study • The MyAUP usability study was designed as an experiment to test student’s knowledge of services through MyAUP and their ability to navigate through the system. Spring 2009 | CM/CS 348 Human Computer Interaction | Self-Services for Students Study
Method • An experiment was conducted asking students to perform tasks using myAUP • Students were asked to perform a series of five tasks • One at a time • Continuing from one task to another without going back to the homepage • One experimenter recorded the time and number of clicks to complete the task • The other experimenter recorded any comments or interesting methods used during the experiment Spring 2009 | CM/CS 348 Human Computer Interaction | Self-Services for Students Study

Discussion • Most of the participants were able to complete the task by reasoning, trial-and-error or searching for the service • Tasks are not difficult to complete once they are asked • Most participants did not know service existed on MyAUP. • Layout of MyAUP needs to somehow make services more obvious to its users.
