  1. Caritas Challenge Liturgy Before you embark on the Caritas Challenge, take time with your group to reflect on why you are standing in solidarity with the poor and vulnerable around the world.

  2. Caritas means ‘love in action’

  3. We work with all people because we believe everyone has innate human dignity.

  4. What does the bible say about love in action?

  5. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. Mark 12:30

  6. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8

  7. Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. 1 Peter 1:8

  8. What does Pope Francis say about love in action?

  9. True charity requires courage: let us overcome the fear of getting our hands dirty so as to help those in need. Pope Francis

  10. We must regain the conviction that we need one another, that we have a shared responsibility for others and the world, and that being good and decent are worth it. Pope Francis, Laudato Si #229

  11. We Christians are called to confront the poverty of our brothers and sisters. Pope Francis

  12. Lord, everywhere I look there is poverty and injustice. Your Word calls us to take action, but at times this feels like a difficult task. Give us strength to fight for social justice and ensure the poor and marginalised have a voice. Help us to remember that we are made in your image and we all have innate human dignity. Empower us to take action and seek justice. Together we pray…

  13. Christ our Lord, Your light shines into the shadows, And shows us Where the obstacles to change lie. We know that often They are in our own hearts, In the way we live, And in our daily choices and actions.

  14. We pray that we may accept The light of your love As a challenge to change Ourselves and our world.

  15. We pray that we may accept The light of your love As a challenge to change Ourselves and our world.

  16. We pray that, each day, We make the choices and take the actions That will bring an end to poverty and hunger, And lead us all Towards a fairer world.

  17. Be with us Lord, As we face your challenge and learn how to live Our lives in love. Amen

  18. Through Caritas Challenge empower us to put LOVE and COMPASSION into ACTION Amen.
