  4. REQUIREMENT • Provide a Supersonic Target for Typhoon AMRAAM Trial Firings in the UK

  5. REQUIREMENT • Provisions for 2 Trials • Typhoon/AMRAAM Guided Firings (GF) 3 & 5 • GF 3 - Trial against Supersonic Target • GF 5 - trial against 1 x Subsonic & 1 x Supersonic Target

  6. TARGET OPTIONS • UK no longer has a Supersonic Target Capability • Very few truly Supersonic Targets in the world • AQM37c Total Service procured from the US via a FMS Contract • Navair/Pt Mugu provision of AQM37c Target and Target Support - (SteveBerkel) • NMANG Target Delivery - (Maj Wade Daughtry)

  7. TARGET OPTIONS • QinetiQ to provide Range and Safety Case - (Howard Warner)

  8. UK OPERATIONS • RAF Lossiemouth chosen as Operating Base for NMANG • proximity to Range • runway length • ability to handle aircraft and explosives • proximity to Whisky distilleries/golf courses • Targets and Support Equipment delivered to RAF Lossiemouth by US Air Transport

  9. UK OPERATIONS • US AAR support based in UK? • Typhoon operations flown from Warton by BAE Test Pilot • Trial conducted at QinetiQ Range Hebrides
